Edgerton boys soccer is going to state for the first time in program history. The Crimson Tide beat the Madison Country Day co-op 1-0 in Saturday's sectional final when junior Jose Diaz scored in the final minute off a pass from sophomore Connor Skarda. Goalie Guillermo Diaz made 11 saves in Sun Prairie.
- Next game: Fri., Nov. 6, 7 p.m., vs. Kettle Moraine Lutheran
- Seeds: Edgerton No. 3, Kettle Moraine Lutheran No. 2
- Where: Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee
- Record: 14-0-4 entering state
The path wasn't dull: Skarda scored a back-heel goal against McFarland, and one playoff game ended in an 8-7 penalty shootout. Not bad for a program that wasn't allowed on the school's turf field at first. If you want to go, spectators are signing up for a fan bus to the tournament.
