The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources said the pheasant season will open statewide at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct.18—hunters are allowed one rooster per day on the opening weekend before the limit rises on Oct.20.

The department will stock about 75,000 birds on over 80 public properties and urges hunters to follow firearm safety rules.

City crews removed picnic tables and benches from Firehouse Park and Volunteer Park in downtown Janesville Tuesday morning at the request of the police—who cited aggressive and harassing conduct concerns.
