- ➤ Shelter from the Storm in Madison rescued 38 cats from a rental property in Orfordville after more than 40 abandoned cats were found, many of which were pregnant or underweight + some had health issues like parasites and skin irritation. The shelter is now treating the cats and asking for donations and foster homes to help with its strain. WKOW

- ➤ Janesville’s only Schnucks store at 1501 Creston Park Dr. will close on Sept. 21 at 6 p.m.—all 57 employees can transfer to Rockford locations or receive severance packages. WKOW

- ➤ Janesville Police arrested Adam Gurney, 29, on Aug 12 for allegedly taking a minor from North Carolina to Janesville—he now faces charges for trafficking of a child, child enticement and sexual intercourse with a child. MyStateLine.com

- ➤ Janesville's Art Infusion festival will take place Sept. 5—7 downtown as visitors watch live mural painting and join art exhibits and workshops. The Janesville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau selected muralists Raymond Mawst and Chris Silva to paint new large murals on the Midwest Storage Building and near the Hedberg Public Library. WKOW
