ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On June 8, a three-vehicle crash on E. US Highway 14 and S. Van Allen Rd in the Town of La Prairie left a two-year-old critically injured when an SUV making a left turn was rear-ended by another car—which caused the vehicle to spin into a Jeep while others suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at local hospitals. - ➤ Family members confirmed that a two-year-old girl died very early Tuesday morning after being injured in a three-vehicle crash on US Highway 14 and S Van Allen Road in La Prairie on Sunday (the crash remains under investigation). WKOW

- ➤ Tourism brought a record $260.1 million to Janesville's economy in 2024 — marking the third year in a row of growth, new reports show. GazetteXtra
- ➤ Gov. Tony Evers announced Tuesday that Wisconsin’s tourism industry reached a record 114.4 million visitors in 2024, generating an economic impact of $25.8 billion and $1.7 billion in tax revenue—Janesville saw a $6 million increase in tourism earnings from last year. He also proposed future investments in tourism and outdoor recreation to build on this record growth. WKOW

- ➤ YWCA Rock County announced that its new Early Learning Center for two- and three-year-old children will open on June 30. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for June 17 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at 1735 S. Washington St. in Janesville and the center will operate Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with an introductory weekly rate of $200. WKOW

- ➤ Lawmakers are considering a bill that would require the state to fund the 9-8-8 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline as federal funding expires next year — the hotline has answered nearly 200,000 calls since launching in July 2022. Advocates noted that one father said the service helped save his son. WKOW
- ➤ Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul announced Tuesday that the state joined a bipartisan coalition in a lawsuit to block 23andMe from auctioning personal genetic data of about 15 million customers without consent, filing in federal bankruptcy court on June 9. The suit seeks to protect sensitive DNA and health information and ensure customers control their own data. WKOW
