ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Smoke from Canadian wildfires brought very unhealthy air quality to parts of Wisconsin on Tuesday, and officials warned people—especially those with breathing problems—to limit outdoor activity; air quality was expected to improve by noon today. Canadian fires forced over 27,000 people to evacuate while the thick smoke reached even Europe.  WKOW

  • The Wisconsin Department of Transportation warned Janesville residents about a phishing scam where texts claim a final notice or unpaid traffic violation to trick people into sharing personal details—officials said similar scams hit several states last week and urged caution.  WKOW
