John and Gail Nordlof retired from Northleaf winery in Milton—where they began restoring the old John Alexander wheat warehouse known as the Sunnyview Orchard Warehouse in 2007—and new owners will take over on May 1 to continue the winery's legacy.

Today, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction declined to sign a certification request from the U.S. Department of Education for Title VI compliance, citing lack of clarity and procedural issues and warning that federal funds for local schools may be at risk.

State Superintendent Dr. Jill Underly said Wisconsin schools already meet the law and stressed that local leaders are best positioned to support students—raising concerns that federal conditions could control school decisions in the future.

After Friday morning storms produced widespread hail damage in southern parts of the state, the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection urged residents to contact their insurance for repair shop recommendations, check online reviews, and verify permits with local officials—while keeping detailed records of any repair work. The agency warned that traveling repair crews with a record of poor work should be avoided and that shops must not perform unauthorized repairs or raise prices after estimates.
